Institutes and centers
Creating new knowledge is a major activity of academic medical centers. Imparting that knowledge to students and translating new understanding in the day-to-day care of patients also are key missions for all of us. On a practical level, many of our faculty members engage in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary programs that expedite the development and growth of teaching, research and service efforts. We refer to these activities as centers of excellence or institutes. In each program, our primary goal or purpose involves a broad constituency to accomplish our institutional mission.
