Dr. Mahata came to Richmond from Boston after completing her undergraduate training in chemistry, as well as Russian language and literature. She plans to pursue a fellowship in endocrinology at Brown University upon completing her year of chief residency. She is married to a fellow Tufts alum, Brett, who is a programmer analyst.
Dr. Mahata enjoys camping in Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains and on the Atlantic seashore. Her creative outlets include cooking and crafting jewelry with beads and semiprecious stones. She is pleased to have the opportunity to serve the VCU community during her chief year.

Betsy Naylor proudly hails from York, PA and came to Richmond by way of Philadelphia. After completing training in the Primary Care track of the VCU Internal Medicine program, she eagerly awaits her year as a Chief Resident, viewing this opportunity as the first step in an Academic Medicine career.
Betsy has many interests and is a dedicated quilter and soft pretzel enthusiast. Betsy takes full and frequent advantage of the Richmond Public Library system as well as the warm weather and charming neighborhood wildlife offered by the city. She is currently training for a tiny triathlon.
Andrew Poklepovic, M.D.

Dr. Poklepovic moved to Richmond from Tampa, FL. He plans to pursue clinical research in Oncology, and will complete a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. He enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Catherine, who is a financial consultant.
Dr. Poklepovic is interested in the arts, and enjoys photography as a personal hobby. He also participates in triathlons, gardening, cooking, and enjoys the variety of activities surrounding Richmond. He is looking forward to the educational and teaching opportunities surrounding his chief year.

Mike studied history as an undergraduate, where he became interested in issues of social disparities, especially as these pertain to healthcare. He has explored these issues via work in South Africa, Madagascar, Kenya and Honduras. He will pursue fellowship training in Infectious Diseases following his chief resident year.
Mike is married to his beautiful Honduran wife Lillian, who is pursuing her PhD in clinical psychology at VCU. Mike and Lillian have spent time in Honduras doing medical relief work together, and hope to eventually construct a long-term, sustainable health project in this country. Additionally, Mike enjoys photography and playing basketball. He is very much looking forward to his chief resident year.
