About the Chair
Shin-Ping Tu, MD, MPH, FACP, joined the VCU Medical Center in November of 2013 as the Chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and her medical degree from University of Cincinnati, in Cincinnati, Ohio.Dr. Tu comes to VCU from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
She served as the Principal or Key Investigator on three grants and Co-Investigator on several additional grants from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Tu is currently leading the flagship multi-site research project of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institutes of Health. Additionally, she has served as a member of committees of the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Disease Control, Society for General Internal Medicine, and Susan G. Komen Foundation.
